This series follows TAKUROMAN, who entered a manga school at the age of 35 after building a career in the working world, and shares—based entirely on personal experience—the mindset and practical methods creators need to expand their activities through their own efforts. Beyond simply “not giving up on challenges because of age,” it portrays the real process of rebuilding one’s career and way of life through relearning, sharing work on social media, and expanding forms of expression.

A Challenge That Began with Learning and Persistence — Two Turning Points

At 35, TAKUROMAN made a bold decision to enroll full-time in a manga school. Sitting alongside new students aged 18 to 20, he began learning how to draw completely from scratch. This “return to the basics” became his first major turning point.

His second turning point came through consistently sharing his work on social media. He continued drawing almost every day—often on the train during his commute—and before he knew it, the number of works he had posted exceeded 2,000. This steady, patient dedication resonated with many people and led to opportunities such as participating in exhibitions and hosting workshops. From his forties onward, he has continued his creative work in earnest as an artist.

“Building Expression Through Experience”

In Episode 7, TAKUROMAN reflects on how he engaged with the NFT boom that gained momentum around 2021 and how it became a catalyst for his growth. Through his participation in the 36FUJI Project, a reinterpretation of Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, he shares the process of carving out both the creative background of his work and the platforms for presenting it on his own initiative. Rather than offering mere know-how, the episode presents an approach to self-marketing derived directly from real-world experience.
